Hi everyone, great site!
Have just bought a Talbot Express Camelot (all we could afford!). Love it to bits but we can't drain the waste tank. All the pipes seem to be clear, it's just the actual tank itself. Haven't sussed yet if we have a dodgy tap but thought I'd ask the experts first so here I am. Have tried to 'degunk' it using a powerful but friendly liquid but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Had a similar problem when we had our old Autoquest, I had to rmove the tap clean it out and then swill the tank, it had a steel tank and was starting to rot so you have to be careful if it is the same type.

By the way there is nothing worse that that horrible feeling of months old grey water running up your arm all the way to your armpit as you unscrew the old tap.

Have you tried back flowing it ie pushing your hosepipe up the tap and forcing any blokage backwards into the tank? I do this regularly to keep chugs regular lol.

I think theres a word for it................

Thanks for two helpful comments. what a way to start a weeks holiday. Actually, using highly technical equipment (a thin plastic luggage tie) I managed to push this up through the tap and up into the tank. Imagine my delight when water came through. I would have tried the hose enema next! Problem number two came when I decided to flush through some water from the shower which is directly on top of the waste tank. The water proceeded to come out via the side door step!!!!! Then realised that the shower tray had a hairline crack and the water was running through the underside of the van and out! At this point I wanted a new motorhome! Rang Charles & son at Poole who hopefully will supply a new shower tray. Will keep you posted. However, one more question??

Can anyone tell me where the drain plug is for the fresh water tank? To reiterate I have a Talbot Express Camelot 1987. Sorry to be such a dunce but my excuse is I haven't got a manual. I can't tell you how invaluable this site is. Once again many thanks PJKRacing & apasher for your help

I couldn't find a drain on our fresh water tank so I just ran the kitchen tap for a while and flushed everything through the waste tank. When the kitchen tap stopped I put about another 20 litres or so along with some bicarbonate of soda in the fresh tank to flush it all through again.

Seems to work okay but can almost hear someone gasp as they read this. A better idea will be along in a minute (or two).
