Is anyone out there an expert on Cobra alarms that start beeping too many times?
I came back from a trip, emptied out the gear, locked up and pressed the larger of the two buttons, as usual. Instead of the two beeps "I'm armed" I got five beeps. Pressing the button again to disarm I got the usual single beep and was let in without sirens going off.
My dealer doesn't know anything nothing new there, it will cost me £45 to have a local specialist stick his head under the bonnet and another £45 to come back with the right bits if a repair is necessary.
The whole thing is just over a year old.
Does anyone know what the problem might be and most importantly, is there a DIY cure? |

From what I remember (we used to fit Cobra alarms) 5 beeps means that something with a sensor on is not closed correctly, or a sensor has failed. Could be a locker door not fully closed or a sensor has been knocked or damaged.

hi, we have a van bitz strike back alarm, and it sounds like yours, and the previous reply, ours does that , and the amount of beeps tells you (if you remember ) what it is that has either been disturbed or isnt shut properly, try locking all your outside cupboards, again then doors windows, if there sensored. |

I have found a copy of the cobra instruction manual, if you do not have one I could scan it and e-mail it to you.

Thanks, as my father used to say "when all else fails read the instructions"
That would be fantastic if you don't mind.

Problem solved
I noticed today that the sensor on the doorframe to the boot (not quite a garage) had broken clean away from its screws and was dangling in the breeze.
An inch of sellotape and it's all working again
That will teach me to fill that compartment up with dog trollies, cages, awnings and chairs
(Mind you I've moved the awning forward now, it was making the steering wobbly having it right at the back)
