Hi

I have just photocopied several copies of.....

My passport
Oscar's passport
My Birth certificate
Driving licence
Italian tax/national insruance documents

etc
etc

I have then placed one of each in a sealen envelope. One set will live at mum and dads, another with a mate and a further copy with anutie B. A copy of each will also come with me.

It might save a lot of stress in case of misfortune.

I am aware of the risk of losing my envelope and someone "stealing my ID", but it is to be hidden in a very "secure" area of the van!

The list might go on and on but dont forget the vehicle papers and insurance details, also its a heck of a pallaver if you lose or have a tax disc stolen, so I always keep a copy of it in the vehicle file. A colour copy might even get you out of the mire if it was stolen whilst you were away, although I wouldnt want to argue the point with a UK policeman! (I did have one nicked from a van that was left immobile but unlocked by a local garage, cost me, I think, 18.00 to get a replacement from DVLA).

At the moment you still have time to do these things, but once you've left, it will be the time to have the peace of mind knowing its all done.
Keep that notepad by the side of your bed!

Best of Luck

Ann & Mike
