my advice is put the mouse away in a cupboard and forget about it untill the dongle turns up, for the price of a mouse these days you may as well ditch it.

That's not liable to happen as the "Dongle" (I wondered what it was called) is somewhere in Turkey, Istanbul Airport I think.

somewhere in my stores i have an oldish logitech cordless mouse and connector. unlikely i will ever use them again. will happily send you the connector if you want it.
might take me a while to find it though. but i guess you're not in a hurry as you've already got another one.
