How about going into the programs folder via my computer, C drive and copying the Works folder.

I've just copy/pasted mine to the desktop as a trial and it is 35mb but everything seemed to be there. you could then move it to your storage device of choice.

Then you could delete the original folder.

I deleted works off a previous system with no adverse effects.

Hi Tricia

Why bother? Just save your files and ditch the application is my advice.
It won't do anything that open office can't do so why would you need it in the future? If by any chance you do need a copy they can be bought for next to nothing anyway.

I don't know how this can be done because if you copy the folder you are not copying many files that are in the windows and system directory and none of the required entries in the registery will be able to put back. Programs don't just use their own folder, they use many others and almost all have to make registry entries which allows WIndows to let it work properly. It will only work if you copy the folder over and then if required, copy it all back on the same computer and in the same place or were you referring to Works data files i.e. docs and stuff you have made.

Hi

I am sure Pusser is right, you need the origonal discs or copies of them to load a program.

You cannot copy the files from your HD to a CD to use the application in the future as it requires a installation that puts all files folder etc in the correct place and updates the computer registry to use the correct data. Works is a waste of space unless you have no other office applications. It sounds like you do so just un-install it from >Control Pannel >Add and remove programs.

stick to OpenOffice unless you can afford MS office 2003 or 2007 when it is fixed of all bugs Smile (not likeley in this life time) Razz

Why do you want to take it off the computer, Tricia? Are you running out of hard disk space?

Haven't checked the Hard disk Gerald, just don't like things taking up space when I don't use them Wink
