January issue of Motorhome Monthly ( the free one) has a test / review of the new Timberland Endeavour XIX, (I assume that that is supposed to be pronounced 'six' but who knows) based on the new Renault Master.
It isn't a very good test, being loaded with much uneccessary 'journalese waffle' instead of telling the reader about things they really would like to know and failure to comment on some of the glaringly obvious failings of the 'van which can be clearly seen in the photographs.
Example one:- nearly half a column waffling about the view from the van of various species of wildlife.
Example two:- two very clear photo's of the underseat 'storage' showing the, quote:-" Neat and thoroughly workmanlike installation of heaters, charging unit and water pump." Yes, but he doesn't comment on the fact that there are no divisions in the locker that will prevent your bedding from laying on top of all this lot; covering what appear to be cooling slots in the charging unit casing and even worse, covering the small grille in the locker floor, labelled "Do Not Cover Vent", not to mention (as he didn't) the possibility of snagging the stored items on bits of 'sharpness'.
Example three:- He says it has a diesel heater so the only items to use LPG are the water heater and cooker, but it has a Dometic 97 litre fridge/freezer. What powers that I wonder? No mention.
The 'van appears to have an excellent kitchen area though and the magazine *is* free .................. ( or 12 quid a year delivered).
Oh! and it's £37,895 otr.

I know the Timberland are very expensive, but you do seem to get value for your money. What I don't understand is how much extra you have to pay to get that extra quality.
What I also don't understand is how Timberland can still not have details on their website. They just say "This range is too new for any details", and yet they're obviously making them.
It's a shame that MM seem to suffer from Magazine Reviewer-itis, in that a lot of niggles and problems and lack of forethought is overlooked, in praise of other, perhaps less important, features.
Incidentally, there is a review of the Timberland Freedom by Don Madge

Under seat storage !!!!!! No change there then. Autosleeper win thumbs up on the tidiness of cables, etc etc in cupboards & and lockers such as under the settee. We asked 2 years ago if under the settee could be done more tidily. ie cables in protective channels and some casing round the diesel heater. Not to mention a better layout of the items fitted under the settee,
As for the vents. Yes the wardrobe one is a bit of a laugh really Dont know about you & your van but the vent there is somewhat useless. Hang clothes on the rail and the vent becomes blocked anyway. Never snagged anything though. Similarly the one under the settee.
I thought it was the Endeavour 9 even,
I am surprised their website has still not been updated. In fact the last time I looked they had taken what they had on the Eandeavour , off.
They also dont meantion the weight of the extra worktop & table do they. We dont take either of them. Far too heavy. when the Payload is already tight.
I love my Timberland though and dont regret buying it.
BTW what is the free magazine mentioned & where is it obtained from.
There was also a write up of this van in the DEC MMM.

Motorhomer,
The free magazine is Motorhome Monthly.
It is produced by 'Stoneleisure' the people who run some of the motorhome shows.
It is free for collection at a number of motorhome dealers or
subscriptions are £12 per year to have it posted to you.
I like the magazine and notwithstanding my previous comments about the Timberland write up (by John Page, as usual) their reports and articles are quite enjoyable even though the journalistic standards are not wonderful.
If you try reading one of Dave Batten-Hills test articles in MMM magazine without having a lie down half way through though, you'll probably need an ambulance by the time you reach the end. Dreadful ..........
that's just my opinion of course ....
Harvey
ps. I don't know where in Hampshire you arebut the MM can be got from Freeborn Southampton,
Marquis at Lower Upham,
P&P at Gosport
and a couple of others.

Harvey,
Bob Griffiths started publishing Motorhome Monthly many years ago and it survives mostly on the advertising revenue.
Pauline & Chalky White were the assistant editors at one time and contributed a lot to the magazine, we last meet at the Le Bourget show in Paris in 2002. I haven't had the mag for some time so I don't know whether they are still there.
Bob Griffiths has his annual awards , Timberland won there first award from Bob (I think) but it's just like winning an award for being the tallest dwarf in the world . Looks good to the general public but means very little in the trade.
I'm glad you mentioned Batten-Hill, I thought it was just me who thought his articles were boring,
Don

Pauline and Chalky are still involved Don.
Boring isn't the word I'd use to describe B-H's writings: in fact I can't think of a suitable single adjective.
Reading him is like wading through treacle with a ball and chain tied to your privates. That's what I meant by having to have a lie down....
btw I have figured out the lack of comment about the underseat storage in the Timberland test. The photo's were put there to clearly show the failing without having to mention it. Canny eh?
