Hello hello!

I'm new to this forum, but have alreadt gleaned some useful advice on a few things.

Currently I'm converting an ex-Ambulance into a camper, to live in while me and the lady goto Portugal for the festival season... Anyway.. I digress.

I want to have some sort of 'turntable' under the driver's seat, so that when we park up, it can be turned through 180 degrees, and used as a seat.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? Is it MOT legal? Any help would be really appreciated. I'm running out of time on this conversion, and the less mistakes I make of my own, the better. Cool

Also.... should anyone feel the need - I'd love the lowdown on Calor bottles, regulators and fridges... because I have absolutly no idea, and I'll be building the kitchen by the end of this week!

Hi,
turntables for driving seats are available from most MH accessory sites dependant on model, fiat/pug/relay certainly.
Beware, some of the fittings can,
1 raise the seat enough for a tall driver to restrict vision through the windscreen forward,
2 raise the seat to make it difficult for a short person to reach the pedals!
The item is legal (if fitted correctly)
Try some selfbuild sites re the conversion although I would recommend a qualified person at least check your gas installation.
Regards Malc

If its a Tranny you may be ok, on average the lift is one inch higher. This may not seem a lot but it is as Malc has warned. Wouldnt entertain on a Boxer or Ducatto

Hello.

I'm converting an Ambulance (LDV 400), so it isn't a standard motorhome. I don't suppose there's anyone out there that's built a turntable? Wink

What's a tranny!?

I've had a look around, and I can't manage to find any MH accesory sites in the UK. Am I being stupid?

Any links to such sites would be fantastic.... i need to find somwhere to buy all the tat I need to provide for all these people that have miraculously decided to come for a trip to Portugal.

I understand that I might need a different regulator for gas in Europe.... does anyone know if this is true?

Hi there -

All sorts of info around here on Gas in Europe - hit the search and save the repeat fees Smile

Most accessory shops are in or at dealerships - also most caravan dealers carry a variety of accessories. For turntables etc. that are a bit more specilised I guess it is just a case of keep looking. I know one in Calais Embarassed

A Tranny, is a Ford Transit
Most dealers have web sites, normally have their name in isome where, have a look at the ads in magazines

Try the pages of MMM for accessories ; CAK tanks are often quoted as suppliers of various accessories for motorhomes - especially for self builders. CAK (I think) stands for Caravan Accessories Kenilworth - where they are based. They do a catalogue; - just looked in MMM august edition - ad on page 243; phone 0870 757 2324.
Also www.thevanshop.com do seats & related bits inc swivels. they are on page 255 of MMM! This sounds like an ad for warners group, but MMM is the font of all knowledge (apart from this site).
