Changing topic again... I read years ago that it is relatively easy for Microsoft to bring out operating system which would be impossible for viruses to get on. So why don't they do this I don't hear you ask. Sad
Well, during the time it was not possible to do this the antivirus companies grew and contribute billions of dollars to the economy and if this was to happen it would cause mass unemployment, the dollar would collapse and probably the stock market too. Therefore it is our duty to get the odd virus to save the American economy. Does that make me feel good. Crying or Very sad

IE7 might not have installed without permission but it sure tried hard enough. For months before I did install it as soon as I accessed many websites the wretched thing would start it's install program and it took many attempts -all at high speed - before it stopped and let me access the site I wanted.

Eventually I did install it and it has ( so far) caused no problems. The level of security is very high if you use the default setting and it blocks many websites until I ( via the icon on the bottom right of the screen) "allow pop-ups for this occasion only " I hesitate to lower the security level and allow most things even though it would be convenient.

I wouldn't have had anything to do with it if I'd realised it was only a beta version but not sure now if uninstalling will cause more problems that it's worth.

It definately was intrusive and a nuisance while trying to get me to install it however.

The Beta version was only availeble if you deliberately went to MS and downloaded it. This version is the Alpha version and is the full monty. But I expect there will be updates on a regular basis as faults are found.

And it's only a couple of weeks ago that it became part of the standard Windows update package - although it still asked you if you wanted it.

I was surprised to see on the front of a magazine in Tesco this morning: "47 ways to improve IE7 security" (it may not have been 47). Doesn't bode well Sad

One good thing about MS stuff is that hundreds of bods around the world are working furiously to find as many flaws as they can for sport. This is good because these flaws will be patched and eventually IE7 will become a sound platform. As soon as it does of course, MS will bring out IE8 with another bunch of flaws. Sad

Laughing Laughing @ Pusser. Was it ever thus?

Things were a lot better before the internet came along.
