Hi, i have also been watching this thread with interest, as some of you may know i have just purchased a winnebago brave which is 31' and is 8' wide!!
The length of mine is not an issue as i own a lwb mercedes sprinter which i use for work for my deliveries. But i have found when i have been out last night and also when i test drove it , i had a tendency to wander over the line a little when i have been on a motorway, much to my other halfs frayed nerves and waving at me to get over from the passenger seat (she is yet to to drive it yet so i am not going to tell her to shut up), but as from what you have said i am looking to go full time in europe next year and i think to be honest being on the correct side of the road for the motorhome ie lhd will make things a little easier!!!
Sorry to hyjack the thread a little but can anyone answer me a simple question, i am having a cat 1 alarm put on our winnebago next week along with anti hyjack system, tv's etc etc, is the battrery system 12 volt or 24 volt?

Hi Nevhel, I am really really really glad your 'van measures up OK.
as I said before our A class was a pain on narrow twisting lanes, which is why we always carried spare wing mirrors - you can easily find someone to fix them - but finding a replacement set in the middle of nowhere is not so easy.
you should find things easier in lhd europe - until then just relax n take your time - and set up markers to help you gauge vehicle extremities.

My Autostratus EBSE is 86.5" wide.
I've got the data sheet for it somewhere. Contains all kinds of mysterious facts and this is one of the few I understand.

I'm having exactly the same problem as Alex. I only have to look in the mirror and I've wandered close to the lane line. Is it the sensitivity of the power steering? I've found that lining up my tax disc with the solid white line on the hard shoulder helps immensely. I'll have to set it up for driving in Europe as soon as I get off the ferry.

By the way Alex, I dont know the answer to your battery question, but the guy I buy my RV spares and accessories from is a mine of knowledge . His name is Paul and you can contact him via the web site below. He is very helpful and doesnt mind answering questions from new RV owners.

To give you your first bit of confidance why don't you look up your local HGV instructor in yellow pages and book a couple of hours with him. I don't know what they charge these days but it sounds as if you need a confidence booster.
I'v driven allsorts and with large vehicles the first rule of thumb is positioning on the road, if you start of the manouvre from the right position you'l complete it and end up in the right position, and a HGV instructor will get you up and running.

Another thought I have for you from bitter experience, never believe anyone else, unless perhaps another MH, when they tell you your van will go down a lane no problems. When I went to pick up my pup I was told ....the lane narrows at one point, but lorrys go down it ok......off I went to land myself in the situation of not being able to reverse as angles all wrong, steep hill and wet slippery leaves, so had to go forwards thro a gap between 2 buildings which with one side of Bessie up against a stone wall covered in Ivy and the other with literally an inch to spare against a house wall. I have never been so anxious in my life. Worst part was it was a dead end so I knew I had to come back! Never again. I will always check for myself first. Ended up with light scratch down one side where piece of ivy branch got me
