Now that your allowed to have CB radio without a licence surely the more powerful (8-10 mile) two way radios will be legal also. Theres loads on the Internet for sale quite cheap. I have a couple of pairs of the 2 mile range ones that we use out in the fields when we are on metal detecting rallies. They work just fine in the open but when you get in a vehicle anything other than line of sight to the next vehicle when your travelling is a waste of time. If you lose a travelling companion at traffic lights in a town say you just totally lose them unless you stop also.

We brought back a pair of Motorola Hand held radios from Alaska last year which are supposed to have a 5 MILE range. They work pretty well when out and about and vehicle to vehicle. Strictly speaking, they are probably using an illegal frequency in the UK but monitored it for a while before using and nobody using these channels as far as I can tell.
For the price we paid, we could have had a pair with a 2 Km range in the UK.
Cheers,
Alan - Radio Ham and ex CB er

To prevent clients from being billed twice for essentially the same service.

Sorry that this question is 'off topic' but as the original posters name has again popped up can he / she or someone explain who Anonymous is?
I see from their gold crown that they are a paid up member but they are NOT in the members list........
Anonymous, you were not on the TV at about 3pm to-day ALL channels by any chance?
I have used the search facility for anyone to have asked this question before but that was negative which makes it even more strange
Hi MicknPat
If you follow the thread posts I think you should be able to deduce that the original poster was Pusser. The reason he shows as anonymous I would guess, is that after the site crashed in May 2005 Pusser re-registered under a different user-name, then very quickly reverted back to his original user-name. This caused his identity to become confused when the original records were recovered and replaced from the failed hard drive. The identity of the original poster could then not be matched up with a newly registered user so reverted to the default user-name "anonymous". There will no doubt be a number of instances of this where posts entered before May 2005 are concerned.
It's one of the reasons that MHF became a subscription site, to avoid future crashes by using much more sophisticated (and expensive) hosting facilities that offer a more stable environment with reliable back-ups in case of hardware failure.
