Been to France a few times and even down into Spain but we have never been to the Cote D'Azure. Travelling from Calais on the 20th (Friday), hopefully, we will see the crowds heading the other way. Any ideas how long it will take and any campsite suggestions around the Frejus area. We are hoping to park near (not too near) to the coastal railway so we can explore the length and breadth in comfort.
Any advice or suggestions regarding the area gratefully received.

John. We have had many holidays on the Cote D'azur and love it, we have camped and caravaned but not M/home although it makes no difference, We mostly stay at L'etoile D'Argens, a large campsite near Frejus/St Raphael. see http://www.provence-campings.com/frejus/etoile-argens/indexuk.htm it is a couple of miles back from the coast, on the River Argens and they have a little motor launch to take you down to the beach, but it is all on the website. We like to get down there as soon as possible so use the motorways (tolls). usually 2 days but not recommended for everyone. if I can help further get back to me.

Good evening John. They might seem to be comming the other way but it will be quite busy and hopefully nice and warm.Think at this time of year you will have to stay with sites .Not many aires or much France Passion in ithe 06area. Try La Napoule Close to Cannes.Camping Les Pruniers or Camping Les Cigales(and the little buggars will keep you awake)Both in Caravan Club Europe 1 or if of interest came back for phones.
Train is a great idea you really get to see the coast and the back streets of Cannes and Nice and not have to worry about driving.Try Le petit train touristique that runs up the 202 between Cagnes and Nice another let off driving. The coastal railway from St.Raphael runs to Ventimiglia in Italy many locals use it foor cheap alcohol but it also carries the TGV from Paris to Nice. So ive been there a few times Ill shut up now.Let us know how you get on John.Be that way myself end of September.Bonne Route.

Just to the west of St Tropez there are several well known beaches, A chap I was talking to recently said the is an Aire close to one of the beaches costs £2.80 a night, couldn't give me any more details. Sorry.

The Aire mentioned by Sid is in the car park alongside the beach (50 yds) at Ramatuelle. Stopping is for 48 hrs but the collector doesnt seem to bother too much when she comes round for her money each morning.
Bread/baguettes arrive at about 9 every morning and the is no access to showers or water after about 5.30 each evening.
The site is signposted with the usual m/h sign.
BE WARNED that about 150 yds alomg the beach from the aire the beach is naturist accepted!!! but it is not noticed unless you wander along that way.
My own view is that it is too far out to be of use if you want to use the coastal railway.

Here's a very good site in the right area, near enough, Au Paradis des Campers just [u:6e0b754cef]below the 3rd photograph[/u:6e0b754cef]: http://www.10000things.org.uk/mooncôte.htm

You might, but I can't find a web site for it, but it's in Alan Rogers.
