Hi, can anyone help. i have recently bought a van from Germany - complete with satellite tv. How do I get this to work in Ireland that is... find a picture? Do I need a new decoder or is it simply a case of resetting up the system for this neck of the woods?

you will probably have a universal type of box so you should be okay

Have you had it working getting any channels - German or otherwise

Not clued up on using Disecq motorised stuff if it is motorised but the box should be ok, if not then £50 somewhere that I can't think of the name, or 20 euros plus postage if you want a link.

Good luck
Lee

Hi

Congrats on your new purchase.

Just need some more info on your system please.

Is it a manual or automatic dish - look for either a control box (automatic) or a manual pole coming into a cupboard below the dish on the roof. Tell me what type of dish is on the roof, attach pics if possible.

Then look at the decoder. Most (old) German systems run off Astra1 satellite and are analogue. Astra1 carries a few english channels, but not many. If your decoder is analogue, you will need to invest in a digital one. Again, attach a pic or give me the make and model numbers off the decoder.

Hi Paulpaul

Shane is right. Our Euromoby started life in Germany and has a stunning automatic Kathrein system that we can get to tune into Astra1 no problem but all the English channels are on Astra2 which is a digital satelite.

We can get ours updated for about £600 but is it worth it, not sure.

The year of your van should give an indication of the date of the system unless it was fitted at a later date
