Just come across the following:

http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,128687/article.html

Don't connect the "GO 910 GPS Portable Car Navigator" to your PC.

The affected systems are running version 6.51 of the TomTom software.

thanks for that,

we bought a new tom tom 910 about a month ago and updated to version 6.522 with the supplied usb cable.

The problem we had was the sat nav screen froze straight after the update----had to put a search on here for information and found an old thread from Gerald(gerannpasa)on how to reset it.I think actually it might have been a blog by Gerald.

The reset button is an an awkward position and very difficult to access,I used a paper clip to reset it.Since then its been fine and we are well pleased with it.

How would we manage without MHF Exclamation
