What Frank says is right, I think. There are a number of Apple stores around - Birmingham Bullring, Bluewater (Kent), Regent Street and Brent Cross (London), Manchester Arndale and Trafford. Go and drool. I do Confused

And you don't get so many (if any) viruses so far.

I fell in love with Macs a long time ago. Not being at all technical I appreciated the dialogue box which came up on the very few occasions the old ones crashed - an old fashioned bomb with a lit fuse. That's the sort of technology I can understand. However, it is such a rare event, I don't know what it does now.

PCs got me flummoxed when they put the shut down button in the Start menu Confused Life is complicated enough with out that.

So - very happy with this iBookG4 laptop, but then we do do mostly dtp work and I needed a small machine to go with my small desk (and he fell for it!).

I'm pleasantly surprised how many mac users there are on this forum.

Hi

Yes popped into Blue Water today as Gerald suggested. WOW, what a place. Very big shop with lots of very, very good staff. It was almost like walking into a club.

No pressure to buy at all but Ian came over to demonstrate and spent half an hour "brain storming" a program called aperture. Very good program, not for photo manipulation like photoshop cs2 but ideal for handling photos, correcting them and showing them. Ian advised waiting for Photoshop CS3 since it will be a lot faster than CS2. This is because since Apple went Intel CS2 has a seperate program working in the background to get it to work, CS3 wil address this.

When you open up a photo to fill up that 24 inch screen it is absolutely knockout, I could just feel my customer's wallets opening wide Smile Smile .

Chatting to Ian he also suggested ordering online as they would not charge for the ram chips that were discarded when upgrading to 2 megs (see no hard sell). The other thing that was appealing was that for £70 a year they would supply an hours tuition per month although I got the feeling that these guys are having a great time and just love to talk "Apple".

I think its time for me to return to my roots - I grew up on an Apple Farm Laughing Laughing

As a former "AppleMac" trainer - authorised Very Happy - I can tell you this.

. A Mac running at 1.8ghz will raster a digital image 30% faster than an equivelent PC doing the same job.

If Steve Jobs had licensed the Apple OS set when he was asked to, we would all be running Macs now. Windows would have never taken off. Apple only allowed 3rd party machines using their OS in 1997. Although I run a PC - XP Pro - I would gladly change to a Mac if I could get all the software I use now to run on it.
