Hi all

At this rate, there will soon by no house owners left in the UK!

Well, as of today, I'm officially homeless. The house has sold, money going in the bank tomorrow and off to see a Hymer 694 on Wednesday. For the time being, my old campervan has been pressed into (cramped) service!

Not 'officially' fulltiming, but will be for the next 6 months at least , if that counts, as I'm off on a tour round Europe at the end of March.

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!
Very Happy

House sale finally gone through, 4 months it has taken the solicitors to do their bit and no chains!! what a saga, BUT will finally move into van and start semi-fulltiming on Friday. We have bought a bolt-hole flat but do not intend moving into there until the autumn and then only for short periods so the open road and freedom, here we come Very Happy Very Happy

Hi Wanderer, I know how you feel.

Our buyers' solicitor was a pain in the rrr's from start to finish - on the day of completion we kept waiting to hear the funds had been received. Buyer phoned solicitor endlessly - no reply. Drove 150 miles to see him in person - solicitor not there - he was in court, and nobody in the office.

Turns out he had forgotten about the completion date. His defence was that he was a litigator, not a conveyancing solicitor, implying that tawdry housebuying was not for one of his elevated staus. Evil or Very Mad So buyers had to get a hotel that night - we sure as hell weren't letting them in without the dosh!

Given that the Law Society provides standard forms for DIY conveyancing, one wonders why it takes as long as it does for a relatively straightforward transaction. Justifying fees, maybe?

Would be interested to hear from a practicing conveyancer why it takes as long as it does.

Mind, at least the solicitors do work to earn their money. Unlike estate agents, who really know how to extract huge quantities of dosh for an absolute minimum of effort. . .

Anyway, you can relax in the smaller, simpler world of your van now - great, innit?

Bruce

Hi Bruce
Thanks for reassurance that we are not alone with problem solicitors, even our buyer was complaining about her solicitor not getting his finger out and being arrogant. We still have completion to contend with on Friday but fingers crossed. At least the van will be on site for us to kip in if all falls flat or even if not!
Roll on the new life as far away from officialdom as possible, defiantly will be great Very Happy Very Happy

We have enjoyed all your posts it seems there are a lot of us and with lots of different ideas.

At present we have had just 3 viewings and no offers so we are little subdued. Sad

Once sold we shall buy the Motorhome and a property in europe probably Bulgaria just so we have some bricks and mortar somewhere.

We may go to Birmingham N.E.C. show just to keep the ideas rolling in.
