Having managed to get my Broadband up and running, I have now decided to go wireless.

I bought Talktalks wireless package and I think I have installed it as I am using it now. But at the end of the set up after saving settings it came back as saying unable to establish an adsl connection and to confirm username and password and/or check adsl connection.

I then realised I hadn't typed my username correctly and so rectified this but still comes up with the same message. This is under the set up page.

BUT

If I click onto "Base Station" and click on connect via this I find I am on the internet and if this computer is "ON" I find that the laptop will also connect but if this PC is "OFF" but wireless modem/router is on then the laptop although it says it is connected to the wireless network (after I have entered my password) will not let me open internet explorer but will if the other PC is on!

I guess somewhere I have gone wrong because of the message received at set up. Also when this PC is on all lights are green but when the PC is "OFF" the online light isn't green.

So can I only use my laptop on the wireless network when the other PC is "ON" or should I be doing something else? Please

I thought it was too good to be true that I could set it up by myself! But at least it does work up to a point and I am getting my emails etc even on the laptop! The connection seems more stable with this modem/router than the one talktalk supplied for the Broadband connection!
i.e. the wired version.

any help would be gratefully appreciated Smile

Not sure if I have found the right solution Exclamation

I decided to close down the PC but not to click on disconnect for the wireless side of things.

Then I went onto the laptop and I find that i am connected and able to access internet explorer! I see the modem/router is showing all green lights including the online light.

So have I answered my own question? But still puzzled by the original message at the end of set-up!!
