All the other replies make good valid points. I use a FreeCom Stick with my 3 year old laptop and it works fine, giving digital radio, freeview TV and the ability to record programmes (disk space permitting), BUT, I cannot state more strongly that this all depends on the strength of signal received where you are. Using the supplied stick aerial probably won't be good enough - needs an external aerial. Unfortunately the Freeview signal is not as good as 'they' would have you believe in the UK.
Still the cost won't break the bank, I'd get one if I were you.

The product looks really neat. Please let us all know how it performs. Will certainly be interested as it will save taking the TV as well as a laptop away.

Bit pricey they go for half that at computer shows.the first hit on google is seven quid cheaper evn. AFAICT they all seem to use the same Hauppage chipset so not much to chose between em.

Back from our trip now.

The USB TV stick works quite well. It requires a fairly good signal, but I think all freeview devices do. Our powered aerial didn't do too well when inside the van so we will be loooking to get an external one.

My laptop coped fine, it isn't very high spec either (Intel Centrino 1.86GHz on 2G RAM). It also coped very well on another laptop with similar CPU and only 512M RAM.

Roger

I have a similar DVB stick which I forgot I had in my laptop case when up in Montrose Angus last July.
Our 14" tv only gave us BBC1 & BBC2 on the site, but when I tuned in the DVB stick, I managed to get 12 tv stations, and 6 radio stations.
Mine cost more when I bought it, (£43.99) but can now be had for £25.00.
Definitely worth the money.
