I think security and stability is how I would rate Firefox over IE (that said I use Safari on my mac)

Firefox is rarely attacked by virus vandals because it is more secure than MS IE. It does take some getting used to to understand all the messages it generates.
I use it with McAfee virus checker and find both are great at providing relatively secure internet browsing.

I followed your link.. the webpage article comparing the two was Published: 11 Nov 2004... both Firefox and IE have moved on a bit since then
There are several uptodate surveys one of which is

In that survey Opera seems to get the most "ticks"... I have used it- but not the latest version , as I have Firefox, again not the latest version, at the moment I am on IE7 ( the latest version with a few custom addons) but I always tell folks to try both ..or all three and see which they like themselves....
Hi all,
I love it; it looks like there's more than panel vans being converted on this forum.
The only time I use IE, is when I have to access Microsoft website, and they insist on IE.

One advantage with Opera (mentioned by Mike above) is that you can tell it to tell microsoft that it is internet explorer not opera and so fool it. I go on bank sites using Opera on my Psion that the bank initialy rejects until I tell it to tell lies . I expect you can do it with others as well.

For those of you new to Firefox I thought I would point out a couple of things that are extremely useful.
1. Use the tabs feature - This allows you to view on one screen different pages in multiple tabs. Each page is on a different tab. The way to achieve this is by clicking File (from the menu at the top of the screen) and then New Tab. (A shortcut is Control+ T). Now you can type in the address of your required page in the address bar at the top. Clicking between the tabs allows you to have different pages available at the same time.
2. Changing your home page - This is very useful because you can set up your screen to have multiple pages being displayed on different tabs ie.
Tab 1 may have Motorhome Facts
Tab 2 perhaps bbc.co.uk
Tab 3 your preferred search engine google.co.uk
Any number of tabs can be created and shown. When you are happy that you want this information to open on starting Firefox you can set this configuration as your home page. The way to do this is:
Tools ==> Options ==> General tab
Now in the Home Page section click the Use Current pages button.
When you next close and reopen Firefox all of the tabs will be opened and all of your chosen pages will be loaded in the background. This is a great feature and well woth checking out.
