In our old starfire, we had swivel seats fitted, and I utilised this to give a visible deterrent to any potential thieves by turning the drivers seat round 180 degrees (facing back), and fitting a cheap padlock between holes on the turntable & the base. Anybody wanting to drive away the van could not do so, because the seat would not turn into position.
In our Pilote, we have ISri seats with a completely different base to the standard, and I couldn't do the padlock trick, but I have utilised a cable bike lock (approx 18" long), strung around a cross member on the swivel mechanism, and around one corner of the base. The seat back can fold flat and goes under the steering wheel, so when it is locked up it cannot turn round and into the upright position, therefore no access to the controls. The only thing to remember is to take the key with me.......

Hi

Brilliant idea. No good for us at the moment though as no swivel seats but when we get our new van will employ that visible deterrant

Is that not meant to be an ejection seat??
An exploding one would destroy your ship.

An Uncle of mine used to take off the steering wheel in his old Commer.

Bugger the "ejection" - I'm prepared to clean the blood off the headlining!

I read of a company that does removable steerig wheels for boxer / ducato vans, but you would have to find somewhere in the van to secure it while you are out & about, or carry it with you & look acomplete prat! Shocked
