I've spent last 2 days trying to find nice hotel, or guest house within walking distance of York racecourse but have only found a couple and they full up. Search on website for hotels near to Racecourse was waste of time as when I rang them they nowhere near it.
Should I give up trying for one nearby and just drive in on day - was worried about where to park as assume it is going to be very busy, and I'm not good sitting in traffic jams Evil or Very Mad
As this is my first show and we will be driving up from Kent I was hoping to incorporate it with short break and arriving on Wednesday or Thursday at latest. Richard has to get back to Dublin by the Sunday(20th) for work so we in a bit of a pickle one way and another.
I really want to get to the show but wonder if easier just to go to a dealer and buy. Oh well, if any of you can suggest something would be very grateful.

Hi mauramac, to be honest most city centre hotels are within walking distance of the racecourse, we take a train in on race days and walk from the station, doesn't take long.

The York Racecourse turn off from the A64 runs through Dringhouses (think thats the area-sorry if its not) which is parallel to the racecourse, beware these are pricey, but the smaller hotels/guest houses in the city are all walking distance as BSB2000 has said

Have a look here....... http://www.uk-hotel-accommodation.co.uk/England/North_Yorkshire/York/index.cfm
That may help in your search, nearly all the hotels listed there are in easy reach of the Racecourse.
Regards M&D.

P.S I know the area well, my work takes me there frequently Wink

There is a hotel on the A19 close to the ring road - A1237. I think it is called The Ramada - very close to the park and ride - although I believe buses pass the hotel door. Hope this helps.
