Hello All,
I am new to Motorhoming and I'm looking for insurance on a new Autotrail which will incorporate breakdown cover in Europe and the UK.
I am currently a member of the AA but the weight limit is 3.0 tonnes. My new 696 is 4.0 tonnes GVW.
Autotrail's /Fiat warranty may be sufficient but I cannot yet find out the details (small print).
Has any one got any thoughts or experiences?
Kind Regards,
Sennen 523. |

Is the Fiat cab one of the new X2/50 Multijet ?
According to the latest Practical Motorhome magazine there is a very good Fiat breakdown warranty on them. I could scan what you get if it would help ?

Correction: the details are in the March 2007 CC Magazine. |

Sent as an attachment to a PM just now. Hope it arrives readable. Can't OCR it as the software is playing up.

I'm assuming that the UK will have a similar level of back up as Australia, if so look here for general aftersales breakdown back up.

Hi
You may recall the problems I had last year in this respect - the Kon-tiki weighs 4000kg and the AA has limits in place.
After a lot of argey bargey, I finally opbtained confirmation in writing that I am covered. The AA do provide the cover but it is in conjunction with Fiat Heavy Vehicles (or something like that.)
I am 99% sure you will be OK.
Worthy of a mention is the motor policy provided by Safeguard that includes breakdown cover, any size, shape or form.

This is what the article in the CC magazine says:
With the new Ducato X/250 owners receive 24 months free access to Fiat Camper Assistance - a freephone pan-European helpline.
Calls route to an experience multi-lingual team at Fiat's Iveco 24 hour call centre in Turin where the problem is analysed and appropriate help despatched from the nearest dealer or service centre. The same operator manages the entire event until your vehicle is mobile again.
If your motorcaravan is immobilised for more than 24 hours, Fiat will arrange either local hotel accommodation with breakfast ( up to 80 euros per person per night up to 5 nights), transport onwards or home for the driver and passengers or a courtesy/ rental car for up to 5 days up to 775 euros per event ( approx Ģ515), plus up to 50 euros for a taxi to the station, hotel or car rental base.
