Going on our first trip over the water and plan to spend each night in a different place, I would like to keep photo's to bring back and put onto here and other places. How do I remember each one, we don't have comp or laptop with us, excellent digital camera so can store plenty.
Other than keeping a written record of each one I can't think of any other way, my memory is hopeless, after we drive away the name will have gone and I will be left with a picture of an Aire/campsite or parking spot that could be anyway from Calais to Lyon.
All ideas gratefully received.

Well they should be in time and date order on your camera.
On some cameras these days you can add a note.
I keep a van diary Invaluable for when you return.
Often a days entry will just include the campsite name and a little weather logo.
When you bring your photos back on to the computer is where the fun starts but for Apple users you have automatic 'film roll' entries into iPhoto so you can bring a few or many off the camera, entitle the roll, and then bring in a some more. easy peasy

Hi Mandy
Keep a diary, detailing places visited, fuel inputted and mileage.
On your digital camera each photograph will have a "date stamp" when taken. Down load memory card at Kodak/Boots photolab and Voila you can revisit at your leisure.
Enjoy

| Some cameras have the facility to create folders this way you can create a folder for each day and save the photographs to it, this is what I do when i have no access to a computer while away. This will depend on the digital camera you have though. |

Hi Mandy, take photos so that the campsite or place name is in the photo.

Hi mandy,
Like frank, we keep a log or diary in the van. We record mileage at start and end of day - fuel bought, with mileage - places visited - wine bought- meals out etc. when we get home we assemble a photo album of the trip and add notes to the page opposite each photo. Its great to look back on these albums when it's freezing cold in winter and the next trip seems an age away. I now use picasa for storing my photos and it has a feature which allows you to create albums
enjoy your trip and above all - relax and take your time

| Some cameras have the facility to record a sound file with the photo. You could just say the name of the place when taking the pic. It obviously takes up more storage space, but cards are cheap enough now. |

Keep a log book, write a few lines each night. On return print the "site pictures" and print 4 pics to an A5 paperkeep in A5 ring file. Consult Log book and memory and print name and date on pics.
See my Le Portel ( and others) post in campsite list for an example.

Excellent, I have got the diary ready so will certainly keep a log. The camera is an Olympus 700 7.1 mega pixel, if that means anything to anyone. I use it everyday to take pictures of bra's and swimwear for Ebay but don't really go into anything else on it, I will have to route out the instructions and see what else it is capable of. I do know it videos with sound , maybe this will mean I could record short sections each day in between the photos to remind me for when we get back. Think I will also invest in some more memory cards.
Like the idea of taking pic of name of Aire or site etc , nice and simple to follow when we get home.
thanks as always for some great ideas
