EEEEeeek

I just phoned comfort insurance for a quote for our Georgie Boy Landau and he said a Vortec V8 on a workhorse chassis is over 8 litres (8.1) and therefore will not give us a quote because they do not insure car licence drivers for anything over 8 litres.

I knew I wouldn't be able to have answers for everything when we started researching last year but I have never heard this before!

Mark is ploughing throught the theory book for his LGV licence, licence applied for already but test date not booked yet, but he has no chance of getting the full licence before the beginning of May. We don't believe he needs the licence to drive it 'dry' but have decided that to use the full payload we don't have any choice but to get the LGV.

Has anyone else had this problem? Should we have realised before we bought it? Does anyone know an insurance company that will insure us? How the hell are we going to get it back from Southampton? Oh flip - is it too early in the day for a glass of red or two?

Don't panick, don't panick

Anita

p.s. The other insurance companies I tried to call seem to have gone home until Monday so I can't even try another one until then!

Hi Anita

Olley has the same engine as yours in his Brave - might be worth a PM to ask who he insures with.

Many of the regulars are at Newark this weekend so don't expect a speedy reply as they will all be out spending their hard earned on goodies Wink

Hi,
I too have an 8.1 vortec insured with Bakers including recovery.
Regrettably I let my hgv go years ago but it has not been a problem.
