Hi I have a compaq v4000 laptop, and a sony handycam.

Is it possible to charge them when not on hook up ?

Ie via the cig lighter socket when on the move ?

Is there adaptor available ?

Regards

Hi, Jenks

There's a couple of ways. You can use a DC-DC adaptor, which are apparently sold by Sterling power?

I use an inverter I bought off Ebay for about £15. There are a number of different types available, which plug into your cigarette lighter, and will power your standard chargers.

You will need to ckeck the power your charger(s) take when charging, and make sure you get one big enough.

Have a search on the forum for "inverters" - there's loads and loads of threads about it.

Have a look at the Maplins web site that is where I got all my 1000 or so adaptors that work off the cig lighter Laughing Probably not as neat a soloution as an inverter, but cheaper

One tip I pass on to all of us techno phobes, label all chargers with what they do or you could end up like I was scratching my head for ages wondering what a charger was for Confused

I use a power adapter for the laptop, plugs into the cig lighter socket and output of mine is switchable from 14V up to 20V. I find it smaller and lighter than the inverter I use for charging the camera batteries.
