Cant recall any difficulties on that road, have used it a few times. The A59 is a main road road that gets heavy traffic and buses on - main route from York to Harrogate

The route you chose to follow hasn't any low bridges. Be aware that there are roadworks on the A1 at Walshford, just south of A59 which can experience severe delays and tailbacks. I am travelling to the York Show on Thursday and my chosen route is A1 south to jct with Boroughbridge A6265 then follow the old A1 which is now A168 to the A59. Along the A59 to the ringroad roundabout just past the garden centre on your right - straight across that roundabout keeping the garage on your right - although the show signs will want you to turn right - keep straight on that road until reaching major traffic lights - go straight across - you will see new office buildings on your left where rail carriages where once built - arriving at yet another set of major traffic lights keep to the left - passing through these lights you will eventually come to a metal bridge turn right immediately you have gone over the bridge. This is only a short road and you will come to another set of lights turn right then keep to your left side of the road because you will then see the entrance to the racecourse in a short distance. No low bridges. Hopefully no queues either. Hope this helps
Hi Kenny & Stella,
No problems at all in York, the low bridges in the City Centre are not accessible to motor vehicles, and the route you are taking does not include travelling through the City Centre itself.
This is a great chance for DRANDALL to pick up Mr HOW HIGH,(The Chinaman) and proceed to the low bridges where he will eventually get his measurements...
