Thought I'd update all you skiers on the situation here.

See previous postings for background information.

Anyway we have just returned from 8 days in the Alps and thought we'd check it out.
We arrived at the coachpark at La Daille. There were other motorhomes parked up, so we settled in for the night. The designated overnight car park had been adjacent, this was empty. We skied and returned to find an extremely polite notice on our windscreen asking us to move. The OT clarified the situation – the owner of the land had withdrawn his permission and there’s currently nowhere else for a Motorhome Park . We were told we could park in one of the no-height-barrier car parks. We found the one at Le Laisinant had a barrier. We didn’t investigate the second, Le Chatelard. We parked at Le Fornet - good ski lifts, and we noticed some overnighting here, but the OT were adamant that it was forbidden in any car park. If you come here though, get there early as it’s not very big. For Tignes, park by day in at Tignes-les-Brevières. There’s a no-barrier car and coach park. You will have to go down the valley to overnight either at a campsite or who-knows-where. There is a good sized flat area on the road up to Val, just past the village of la Thuile.

Please write to the Tourist Office or the mayor and tell him just how much money you would have spent in their resort but now you can’t

Having just read this through it might read as if the OT said we could overnight in the car parks. they did not, they seemed very frustrated and defended the right of MH's to park by day but said there was nothing they could offer us for overnight...so that IS the official line.

That is a shame! they obviously get enough money from all the other tourists and don't need the motorhomers/camping-cars Sad
