Hi Folks!

We're new to this thing having just bought a Autosleeper 'Gatcombe' and are looking for a suitable TV for the 'van.

Can anyone suggest some models I should be looking at? In particular I'd like an LCD screen that runs on 230V and 12V if possible - any ideas?

Hi,
Welcome, try Roadpro at top of page they have a selection of TVs different sizes and prices. Failing that a search on Yahoo or Google will find many prices and sizes.

and welcome on board.

I personally would not recommend any particular make as a reco from my area may not be available in your area.

What i would recommend is shop around your local area and enquire about dual voltage sets(230/12 volt) with a low wattage. (Electric draining capacity-batteries last longer).

There are quite a few decent specialiist suppliers of dual voltage stuff that advertise in the likes of MMM mag and it depends on where you are located. Around my area one that advertises and are a decent crowd is Leisure Power. Have a look round your locality and see what suits you

I don't mean to hijack your post, Ena, but any answers to this query might assist you, too.

In view of the extraordinarily high prices for these 14" lcd tvs, I'm going to investigate purchasing a cheap-ish laptop with a tv receiver (either built-in or attched via USB). I've been told that the picture isn't as good on a laptop (I'll have to view one to see if it is unwatchable from my perspective), but when I'm having to pay £350-£450 for a tv, yet only about £600 for a laptop I think it's worth investigating.

Any comments, particularly from someone who has just such a set-up?

Hi Barry & Sue

We have a plug in usb external TV for a laptop or an ordinary PC. The picture is as good as my little % in portable TV if not better. I do use external plug in set of speakers though.
