Hello
We are going on our first trip into France, planning to visit Bolougne, Paris,
Rennes then returning to Bolounge. We are going to stop at disney on the way, and are visiting friends near Laval.
Now if anyone out there has any good tips for campsites and places to visit, we would love to hear from you!
We are going with Speed Ferries (only £88 for 7 & our Hymer) on 22nd Oct and returning a week later. Not long, but all the kids are in school, and taking time off has become a big no-no.

The site seems quiet today, everyones probably away for the w/e or at the York show, hence no replies yet, i'm sure youll get some info later on. I,m more of an 'aire' person but here are a few to check out;

I,ve had a look in the caravan europe book and there is an all year site 2ks ne of Rennes with a good review but i haven't visited it personally. Camping des Gayeulles, rue du proffesseur maurice audin, 02 99 36 91 22. 13.50 euro p/n

As for Paris, theres Camping Bois de Boulogne, which is the closest to the centre

For a campsite near Boulogne you can't better than Manoir de Senlecques. About 40 mins from the Calais ferry.

Btw, a few years ago my sister lived in Paris. She told me that the Bois de Boulogne is full of transvestite prostitutes!

So wifey and I went to the Forest of Fontainebleau.

Thanks for the tips, but...
We've been looking into staying on site at Disney (I aggree with Noomo's views on Disney, but what can I tell the kids?) and, as far as I can tell, you can camp overnight on their car park for 40 euros. Or pay 20 euros just for day parking, which is on top of the £170 Crying or Very sad

(1 day pass for 7) entrance fee. Is it like this at Park Asterix?
Do French campsites generally shut from the end of September like here?
OK, now it's back to the research.

I'm so used to annoying people with my opinion of too much "culture" from the US, that I was pleasantly surprised by your reply, Jessy.

Re French campsites in Sept:

Yes, it is when they tend to close down. There are some regional variations, some due probably to the difference in climate along the length (and breadth) of that big country, and some others which make little sense to me, like the Dordogne which seems almost completely shut down from very early Sept.

By this time of year, if like us you're not wild campers, it makes good sense to use a book, (Alan Rogers', the Caravan Club's, etc.), and early afternoon to phone ahead and check that an all-year-round site you're heading for really is open.
