Just renewed my M/home Insurance with this company- (www.suretermdirect.co.uk) £219 plus £20 Legal expenses Ins which I took. This with European Breakdown cover, and Homestart. £250 excess . AND a bit off for MHF subscription. (and both me and moh have an sp30 each Crying or Very sad )

Thought this was a good deal, though I appreciate (as someone said on a previous post) you don't really know how good they are till you have to claim- they also insure RV's and bigger m'homes (contrary to what was said on another post)

Can't really understand why members are reluctant to subscribe. Got my money back again Laughing

Nuke- to be honest I'd forgotten all about the MHF discount when doing the "negotiating" and the company had reduced my price down to "bear bones". I threw in my membership as an after thought and they knocked of another £15.

Not the full 15% praps but I was happy and as I said above it (more than) paid for my subs!

I just renewed my policy with Sureterm Direct too.

I was with Adrian Flux for 2 years, but Sureterm saved me an absolute packet (£170 to be exact) - and it's a better policy.

I have been ringing round a few companies today as my motorhome insurance is due in a month and had a very competitive quote from Sureterm.I got a 15% discount for being an mhf member, seemed very friendly and helpful on the phone so much so that I got a quote for the car as well, and that was also cheaper than my current insurer Saga.

Has anyone used Sureterm for an insurance claim?I would be interested to know if their claims handling procedure is as good as their premiums. You only know how good an insurance company is when you have to make a claim.

Steve

I called Sureterm a while ago to get a quote for our RV and they declined to quote..... The reason????? Well they told me that they do not quote unless your renewal is less than 30 days away because insurance costs change so rapidly that they could not guarantee the price given. So the really nice guy said he had made a note to call me at the end of April, beginning of May to be within the time limit and they would be able to quote then. And yes he did say they insured American RV's and yes they also provided full breakdown (including europe) for large vehicles (30 foot plus), so heres hoping that they remember to call me back Laughing

Steve

I can't help you with experience of claims (Fortunately?) but I've ben insured with them for a few months. What I have noticed is that on the m/h insurance (insured for self and spouse as named drivers) there is no facilkity to allow for "driving of motor vehicles not belonging to insured" which I think is normal (at third party level) for othger insurers. I found this a pain recently when I needed to drive my daughter in laws car in an emergency. As our other vehicle (VW Polo) is insured in my wife's name this didn't help me.

Also-check the NCB provision for Sureterm

Good one Telbell,

thanks for pointing it out as my details are exactly the same-m/home insured in my name with spouse as named driver and the car insured in Sharon's name with me as named driver. So it looks as if I would not be able to drive a car not belonging to me with basic 3rd party insurance.

I will clarify this with Sureterm when they ring me back in a couple of weeks as promised.I have been able to transfer my NCB which I think is standard practice within the insurance industry.

The quote from Sureterm was only £25 cheaper than my current insurer Saga, but you have to read the small print very carefully and check the terms and conditions,as in my experience insurance companies are fine when you are paying them but try everything to avoid paying out.

Cheapest is not necessarily the best and I haven't yet decided which one to go for, although tbh I am leaning towards staying with Saga, they do provide 3rd party cover to drive other vehicles as standard.I probably wont need it but you never know.

Steve

As they say where I used to live - "You never get owt for nowt"! Laughing I noticed the problem re driving other vehicles too late to change but there's a good chance I
