My insurance company gave me a 20% discount on my premium if I was a member of an owners club. Not so yet, but they gave me the discount and have given me 14 days to join one!!! Is there an "old" 1980's Hymer club around or any recommendations for a club that might suit in this instance? Also does anyone know which engine I have in my Hymer. It's the 2.4ltr diesel, non-turbo, 4 speed box, first registered in 1983 but which one (model/series) is it? The vehicle documents (in german) seem to relate (I think!) to a 602 model. Is that it? Any guidance welcomed.

If you have a 2.4 ltr Diesel STD early 80's it could be one of 7 different models.

I to own a old shape hymer to my knowlage theres no club for old hymers but theres loads about .
by the look of the 602 engine number I guess it a mercedes as for the engine look on the chassis plate that will give you a indication as to what van it is 208/308/310/410 etc, that way you will able to obtain service parts from eurocar parts or mercedes.
the mercedes oparating manual in English is rare as hens teeth but if you get the right person in the mercedes commercial parts department costs £6 thay do have them as I had one last week from wolverhampton.
the same manual covers 2/3/4 series vans.
