I normally run Mozilla Firefox web browser and wondered if anyone had tried 'Opera' ? . . I'd like to know which was the faster and takes least time to load & takes the lesser PC resources

Haven't tried Opera, but FIreFox is the bee's knees as far as I'm concerned. The Extensions & Add-ons are great, & I find it faster the IE <spit>.

I went with Opera for a while when it first came out and was faster and much smaller than IE. It's multitabs also made it quite different at the time but now of course this has become standard with the others as well.
In 2000 I moved on to myie2 (now renamed

) which uses basic code from IE but was with multitabs and much more customise-able. Because it has the IE engine it can view/access any web site that IE can. With Firefox and Opera you still occasionally come on a problem with some web site code that will only work with IE.
When Firefox came along I went over to that and am still very happy with it. I particularly like the hundreds of free plugins and extensions that are available.
Being responsible for several small web sites I like to test them with different browsers to try and ensure my sites are widely accessible. I've recently tried Opera 9 and I like what I see and it performed well - however I still like FF and so I will stick to that.
I cannot run IE7 at all since all my PCs are still Win98se. This has recently made testing difficult and I've had to rely on online web test sites. I am hoping to buy a new laptop soon and I will be insisting on XP Prof. and will not want Vista.

I use a Mac running 10.3.9 (Panther) and have tried I/E, Opera, Safari and Firefox. Although I like Firefox I find that it takes longer to move around sites and on some Yahoo forums my postings come out all gobblygook. So in the main I prefer the Safari. Be aware, I'm not the most computor literate bloke around

I've been trying out both Opera & Safari . . in my opinion Opera is a touch faster than Firefox but I just didn't like the layout of Safari, I'm going to keep both Firefox & Opera and compare them over the next week or so to see which will get dumped.
