If oil was going to run out in our generation a lot more would be done about it.

It's like this global warming issue where taxing us to death seem to be there answer.

That's a tax not a deterrent Wink

I was considering adding a hydrogen generator to my engine which already runs on cheap LPG as well as horrendously priced petrol.

Have a look here:

Could be upto 50percent increase in MPG. Works for you diesel chaps too apparently.

Interesting topic, sadly have very erratic and infrequent web access just now to join in, despite best efforts to get a datacard from ebay for over a month, oh the joys of fulltiming lol.

i am also considering a veg oil conversion but am still doing the research.
There is a lot of information out there, most of which seems to contradict one another.

I remember seeing a site where they had developed a system that will filter USED vegetable oil ie. fryer using an on board pressure filter.
I cant find the site now but will post if I do.

Or maybe it was a dream.

I full time and work as a temp chef all over the place. Restaurants always have loads used fryer oil cluttering up the back yard so that would be perfect.
I already use a big solar panel and would love to go totally free fuel and no carbon.
I will let you know if its dooable. Very Happy

I'd have to use new veg oil as I wouldn't be able to carry any filtering equipment around. I've looked at a few web sites so far. I'm tempted to do the

, but the next one isn't until October. It would make sense to do the conversion ASAP before I do too many miles, but I have a lot of preparations to do, not much time and a lot to spend of other essentials like security.

I don't want to go somewhere sunny, there probably won't be much water there. I'll cover the van with straw bales to keep cosy Very Happy.

It's worth spending an hour, although a bit scary if you don't already know about Peak Oil.
