Hi all
I understand that If i import a MH over 3 years old i will require a UK MOT certificate to register it. when it is MOT'd will the german Vehicle reg no will be put on the certificate or will it be left blank. so that the new vehicle reg number will be valid when it is reregistered.

I have just found out that when you get an MOT certificate the chassis no. is put on it, and when it is reregistered the new registration is stamped on the MOT certificate by the VLO.

Hi

I had one MOT'd yesterday and the MOT man has put the chassis number AND the German export reg. on the certificate. I assume that when the DVLA issue a UK reg. they will stamp up the MOT with the new reg. as they do when transferring cherished numbers.
Just as a matter of interest, I wanted to get my van registered ASAP to keep the insurers happy but as yet haven't had time to get the new (UK) lights and speedo fitted. No problem said the MOT man, just blank off the prism's on the headlight glass and fit the new ones when you get them, he wasn't concerned as long as the beams lined up OK in the beam tester. Speedo no problem either - not included in MOT test! All he was concerned about was that I had transferred the rear fog light to the correct side (plus all the "normal" MOT issues of course).

My experience in MOTing imported Hymer last week was exactly as described by gaspode. Hope to get Reg No & Tax disc this Mon or Tues.

Just to follow up previous post:

DVLA returned tax disc and documents 48 hours after I handed the forms in at the local office and the new V5 arrived another 6 days later!!!

How on earth is a sceptic like me supposed to cope with the DVLA being so efficient - what is the country coming to these days?
