Hi castaway

It's a bit out in the sticks if I remember correctly but there is a train station with connection to Hamburg a couple of miles away. We flew to the cheapie Hamburg airport and hired a car because we wanted to visit a few dealers, obviously we stayed over a couple of nights. I seem to remember they're about an hours drive from the cheapie Hamburg airport (well north of the city) and there are several other dealers within 25 miles but can't remember their names for the life of me.

We ended up buying a used van from

on that occasion, he had some good buys, nice clean ex-hire vans. Problem was he didn't speak any English (not much German either, he's a Turk) but we found someone to translate OK and he treated us very fairly.

The thing to do is treat it as a weekend away and enjoy the trip.

Thanks for that, we too are planning to go to 'cheapie' Hamburg and as you say are going to treat it as a little holiday but hopefully coming back with a motor home. We have been keeping an eye on the vans Die Wohnmobil, there are some real nice ones on there, don't know if they are just clever at taking the pictures, but they all look so clean and even the older ones look like they have just rolled off the assembly line.
