Hi again,

When you get to Johns Cross, have a chat with Glenn who will oversee the fitting. 4m is good but it depends on the suitable fitting points for your van. The fittings go right thru' the side of the van with a fixing point on the inside. These have fixing plates over them There have to be suitable places for these plates and Glenn will advise you. This is why it is better to get them to do it. With the bigger sizes it is a good idea to buy a rafter, this is a stabilising centre strut from the van to the outside edge of the awning. Cost about £20 and you pop it up there when the awning is out.
We have had no problem with ours at all. We put a clip on the inside wall of the wardrobe and the rafter and awning winder sit in there when not in use.

We already have a rafter it was somehow in the garage when the old van went so we may end up with a spare.

I am dealing with Ian at Johns Cross and have emailed him pics so he is very sure of the installation they all seem very knowledgeable if a tad busy I waited 2 hours for a call back yesterday but there you go.

The bigger the better in my opinion also.

Regarding fitting location.

Please don't make the same mistake I made and position it so that the arms are over the door. With the awning open you can't open or close the door.
Make sure that when it is out the arms are clear otherwise you will either have to have the awning at its maximum height which does little good or you have to keep lifting it up and down to open and close the door Sad

Another consideration would be if you wanted to add a safari room .???

With a 3.5 the sides would obstruct your rear window and garage door,

bigger in this case would be better.
