A week ago whilst driving her motorhome southwards in France, my mother had a wee mishap involving a narrow country lane, a ditch, and a hedge. Luckily the damage done was minimal, and what there is appears to be limited to the Omnistor awning (probably whilst she was being pulled out by a friendly farmer). Whilst the material and tension arms look OK, both casings have sustained damage, and the winding mechanism seems completely knackered. If the awning is a write off, then I will simply remove it and dispose of it. If OTOH it might be repairable then I'll make the remains safe so she can return to the UK to have it attended to. The question is, has anyone here damaged their awning? If so, was it repaired or replaced? Are spare parts readily available? Is it a cost effective exercise to replace (say) the casing and winding mech rather than buying new (or secondhand)?

Hi HymerHobo

That sounds painful, and possibly expensive. I know you can get spares for Omnistor as I've needed a couple. Their website is

When ours was giving both I called in a v helpful guy called Brent from Hill View Awnings, who came and repaired it at our home, which was handy. Can't find his contact details but a Google search might do the trick.

Hope you get it sorted.
