Hi,
I just contacted the Irish fitters for Vanbitz Strikeback (in Co Down) but they aren't taking any more bookings this summer.

I'm off to Europe for 2 months at the end of August and really want a good alarm system fitted. I have a 1985 Winnebago.

Does anyone have any advice on alternative fitters for the Strikeback or alternative alarm systems? Can I get an immobiliser fitted?
Many thanks,
Sarah

We have the same problem here in Scotland Sarah,I had cobra fitted to my van,it's more or less the same alarm as Vanbitz but much less expensive,do not go for a sigma alarm, you would not hear it behind a newspaper, regards, paddywhack.

Where are you crossing to/from.

Try Leisurpower in warrington, they fitted mine and did a good job, I came over from IOM especially.

You could do on way down if travelling through Liverpool or futher north.

Lots to do near Warrington for day out.

Sarah, you may be better off getting one fitted there in case you need it serviced or repaired or added to - would be a pain having to come back to UK for potential maintenance.

Insurance companies dont seem to be overly impressed which make you have as long as it's a Cat 1 system so if you can get a Cobra as paddywhack suggested I would go for that and get it done in good time before you leave so you can get familiar with it.

If you do decide to get one fitted here in UK make sure you allow for a stopover somewhere as mine took a day to be fitted - although I'm not sure if that was just because they were very busy.

Maura

Hi Sarah, re your query. last month I bought a Cobra Q tracker system off ebay Cost £333.00 this included p/p and the fitting and activation. I had called my insurance prior to purchase to confirm it was on their approved list as we are going to Croatia next month.
I paid via pay pal,the guy called,it was delivered in two days.I called the auto electrician on the telephone number supplied,we agreed a time for the next day,he arrived on time, did great neat job.He then called the control centre to activate it,handed me the phone and i paid the first years fees £120 (next year i will pay the £360 which will cover the van for the rest of the time I own it)
You have options to call the control room to have your vans location verified.
To find out more log onto ebay, enter cobra Q the guy is in Northern Ireland.I cannot reccomend enough,he did exactly what he said he would no problems at all.
I hasten to add I have nothing to do with him other than I and my insurance are happy with him.
hope this helps,
Cheers,
Tom and Jen

Wow, this sounds like a great service. Excellent, worth remembering for next MH I buy. I'm always very nervous of anything purchased off E-Bay, but you had no problems?

Thanks Tom & Jen, will make a note of it and hope it helps Sarah.

Maura

Thanks - I contacted them and they can install the Gemini alarm system for €700 (supplied and fitted). And will take a booking for mid-August, so I can stop panicking!
Is Gemini a good system?
Thanks,
Sarah
