Anyone recommend a decent route to the CC Site pse? There for 3 nights this week.
(a) The Caravan Club book suggests hammerrng right round to Junc 2 of the M25 then A2
(b) My (usually) trusty TomTom suggests M40 then A40 via Whitechapel/East India Docks/ to Woolwich

(a) seems a helluvah way round
(b) Skirts the City but I'm a bit dubious about taking Champ through all that traffic!!

Anyone done (b)?

Responses within next 15hrs would be appreciated Wink

Thanks

Hi,
Always use route 'A' daughter, lives not far from Abbywood and we drive down the A1`/M1 from the north and find that route both acceptable and easy.

M25 J2 is the best route.. the other will be very busy and incur the congestion charge.

Hi Telbell

The M25 route may seem a long way around but believe me you do not want to be going the A40 route. You will also have to bear in mind that you will be charged at the Dartford crossing when on M25. The A40 route takes you straight through the London Congestion Charge Zone which will also cost you.

You might want to avoid that area of the M25 around the rush hours - traffic over the bridge can get very busy.

If you're hacking around the M25, what about M11 / A406 / Woolwich Ferry? You get a boat trip for free Wink

Who needs 15hrs then? Laughing
I knew I could rely on MHF.

So it's gotta be M25 then. I must admit I hadn't even considered the Congestion Charge-I'll save the charge and spend it on fuel then Laughing
Thanks to you all

PS-Gerald-yes we hope to avoid rush hour- that's an interesting one re the ferry trip- I'll have a look at that- don't know that area at all- I think M11 may be a bit too far East

Don't forget to say hi to MHF-ers Phil and Jan (Glen432), who are in their first year as assistant wardens at Abbey Wood. Very Happy

we have done this trip from(Stratford on Avon)We go down the M40 then M25.But check trafic on m25 both directions. If one way is held up we go the other! There is very little mileage or time either clockwise or anticlockwise!Anticlockwise you don't have to pay the crossing charge but it's not much anyway!!
