Hello,

I have searched the net and this forum for information on parking overnight on the NEC carpark (Campground full on our days).

I assume someone has done it (Parked on the carpark overnight!), if so could someone tell me the best road to approach it by or what signs to follow or even better a map?.

Is anyone else on here doing the same?

Happened to be near Paris last Tuesday, so naturally visited Le Bourget for the 'Vehicles de loisirs' show.
On approach if you are in any type of motorhome you are directed to the enormous motorhome car park-no choice in the matter, you are not with the cars.
You are given a date stamped pass/ticket on entry which states a price of 9 Euros per day. This huge car park has several service points for water, and disposal of grey water and chemical loo points.
So we decided to stay for one night, and despite the 9 euro price on the ticket, we were not charged at all.(Probably because we were Johnny Foreigner-I have heard that foreign guests don't pay)
So entry for me and management to the show and one nights camping we paid the princley sum of 8 euro's (about £5), as we had half price show entry vouchers free from a French Motorhome mag.
Sorry if this is off topic but if the French can operate such a good system, why not the NEC?

Also Duesseldorf - any connection with the fact that the CC are operating the "camp site"?

Just as a little addendum to this - don't turn up late in the afternoon, expecting to find signs to the wildcamping area, or even to be let into the car park at all. The security people may not let you in, since the car parks are officially closed when the show has ended for the day.

Do as we did last year - turn up fairly early in the morning (we were there around 9:15), when the car park is pretty empty. Make your way to the back of the car park (where, in all likelihood, you'll find other motorhomes), park up and enjoy the show.

Then, when it's late afternoon, just 'forget' to leave the car park. Simple!

I just hope that, after saying this, it works this year too. I can't see why it shouldn't.

Returning to the £20 charge - I suppose the answer is very simple.

If they can fill the parking area with a £20 charge then it would be stupid for them to charge less.

Its all down to getting the best return whatever the cost to the punter. As I often tell my kids - fairness is not a word that exists in the real world.
