I am having difficulty in obtaining Selenia WR engine oil for my Ducato 2.0l diesel. The handbook says I should use it for common rail turbo diesel. I tried at my local Fiat dealer and they didn't quite look at me as if I had come from 'another planet' but not far off! They said they only put the ordinary Selenia in all the diesel engines and had not heard of WR. Is it so important to use this oil.

Hi SidEntry,

If you check your handbook again youwill see (page 244?) it shows Selenia Turbo Diesel for use -15deg to over +40 deg C.
WR is for use below -15 deg C and has an upper limit of about 25 deg C which is not enough for summer use. Unless you live in a really cold climate the recommnded oil is the Turbo Diesel SAE 10W-40 which is a semi-synthetic oil meeting the ACEA B3 and API CD specifications.

If you are happy to use an alernative oil then I personally suggest Millers XFE which meets the same spec as the Selenia Turbo diesel.
There are other alternatives such as Castrol Magnetec GTD, but what ever you go for it MUST be at least Semi Synthetic and meet the ACEA B3 specifications.
Hope this helps.
Jon.

Ive just paid £30 for 5 litres of Selenia diesel oil for Fiat jtd.

The pouring spout came off and disappeared into the can on the 1st use!!

I worked in the automotive industry for 25 yrs - and never saw such a badly designed can - looks nice though!

Thanks for the info folks. I will bear this in mind. I think I will write To Fiat (snail mail) about this. Should be interesting if they bother to reply. I will keep you posted. Their opinion, in hard copy should be useful Wink
