Sorry to post this on the forum, but cannot see how I attrac1 the attention of who is in charge of this part of MHF. I posted a campsite in France that we came accross quite by chance and filled in the long form with as much detail as possible, as this site was not in the Caravan Europe Guide - think it would be an asset for anyone travelling in the Tarn region, I click on the box at the bottom to go to next step - nothing!!! Sent message to MHF but as yet have had no response, tried to access the site today and I have been listed as a non contributor - so what am I doing wrong and have the Mods any record of my post? Thank you
Wendy

Hi Wendy

Well, I really don't know what's happened to your campsite entry. Shocked

When you clicked on the box at the bottom of the page to go to the next step you should have been presented with the map section so you could place your site on the map. If this screen didn't appear my first suspicion would be that you lost connection at some time whilst you were filling out the first page. This would mean that your entry was never transmitted to MHF. Sad Did you get a "timed out" message?

Certainly I haven't seen any entries from you awaiting approval, no doubt if one of the other admins has seen your entry they will post when they see this thread but that's unlikely because if any incomplete entries are received we usually PM the member who submitted them.

When did you submit the site and how did you try to contact MHF? With a campsite entry it's always best to PM one of the mods or database admins.

Hi Ambegayo

Website help is the place to post if you are in trouble with any section of the forum or website ... so you aare OK posting your problem
here:

I do not see any campsite awaiting approval from you so I am afraid that something went wrong somewhere with your submission.
Just what went wrong I do not have any way of telling but as we do get regular entries from members we know that the system works... so all I can ask is that you do the entry again.

Sometimes folk who are using a dial up connection do have problems with the map display as it is a lot of info that needs to download to your browser...if you have broadband you should be OK.... as long as the connection is sound.

Tips:

Do check that the site is not already in the database ...a search of the database will establish that the site you are adding is not already there. Use just one search field ..the name of the nearest town or the campsite name ... in fact just a portion of the name can be best.

After filling in the form fields with the details you will next see the map and you can locate the exact position of the campsite... it pays to zoom right in and also use "satellite"view ...in many areas you will be able see the vans on a site. After siting the locator make sure that you click on the save link or all you r map details will be lost.

So please have another go we will watch out for it.

Mike

As I said, I found I was denied access to the database - because I was not a 'contributor' but I would like to be hence entering the details of the site we found at Chanac, by the way is lat/long an essential entry (Icould get this from the google map. Also by the way just bought a Nuvi 660 and have not fully got up to speed on the facilities, does this like to accept lat/long?
So I will enter it all again, though the website for the the site gives everything, so do I need to tick all the boxes etc etc.
Would really like to be an asset to the site and receive info of other sites to help with travel in Europe. Whilst posting - is their Aires other than the guide about them from 'whats his name'

You are only denied access to the 'campsite map', there is also a section called ' find a campsite' see attachment which everyone can use.

Hi Wendy

Anyone can search the database it is just the campsite map you cannot access at the moment... when you have entered one site you will gain access to the map too.

search the

database. This link can also be found on the left hand side of the front page Wink

When you are filling the form you do not enter any latitude or longitude ...that is all done for you in the second stage of the process when the map appears ....all you do is find the place , mark it and click on the save the map location link.

mike

P.S. and as already said in earlier post:--

After filling in the form fields with the details you will next see the map and you can locate the exact position of the campsite... it pays to zoom right in and also use "satellite"view ...in many areas you will be able see the vans on a site. Hi Wendy

Well, your site is there now - but not without some problems and wasted time. It took me 20 minutes to find the map location (which you hadn't completed) and I'm still not confident that it's correct so you will need to edit the map position to get it accurate. You didn't complete the map screen nor did you provide a full address. Normally this would mean that we would reject the site as it takes too much time for the staff to locate them but in this case I've filled in the missing information for you as best I can from the description you provided.

I really do need to emphasise this point for anyone else submitting campsites, you MUST accurately complete the map positioning section of the entry form and give a full address. Whenever we get sites without map positions we will try to locate them from the address - but if there is no address - and as in this case the Google photo detail is poor - we simply can't locate them accurately so the entries have to be rejected.

Can I also ask that members fill in as many of the text fields as possible please? In this case Wendy gave a good write-up of the site but then didn't complete the fields for post code and phone number (which were easily obtained from the website). This just means that the campsite admins have to complete the missing information.
