Evening All
We have been refurbishing our 1993 Hymer B564 over the last six months, since purchase. As the cosmetic things are now done [upholstery, carpets, curtains, seats etc] I have turned my attention to the inherited sat tv system [German set up previously] As a complete satellite 'numpty' I would welcome any advice re: the validity of it.
System comprises :- Oyster II self-seeking dish with control panel containing 'on' 'sat' 'scan' four directional arrows and illuminated window which defaults to P1 when switched on; a [Philips?] receiver [Viva European Arts OSR 250] with handset that appears to be dead [fitted new batteries]. The receiver has channels 00 - 250. When switched on, the dish elevates and seems to do a bit of a search but stays pointing predominantly in the original direction. As the handset seem u/s I can only change channels, up and down, manually and have no access to menus etc. This assumes that they are there as all I get on screen is snow. So, is the system worth time and efffort [for UK initially], should I buy an up to date box and try to utilise the Oyster dish, or is the whole thing pants.
Any comments gratefully received.
Dave

Hi
I may be wrong but I think that your system could be analogue! I know you can change the LNB to digital other than that I don't know but it may point you in the right direction!

Richard

Thanks for all advice, starting to get a feel for things a bit now.
Shane, thanks for the kind offer but I would be hard pressed to fit in a 200 mile round trip this side of Christmas due to limited weekend time available, so I will try for something nearer home.
Regards
Dave
