Hi
My suggestions are
Is my vehicle covered for F+T when parked outside my house between 10pm and 6am some car policies have this as an exclusion!!
If i have a non vehicle accident and cant drive can a driver be supplied to get me home (this is more on travel ins) but i found this out in june when i fell and broke my arm whilst out walking. Luckily my very good mate came and fetched me so didnt claim on travel ins.
What is included/excluded from the no claims discount. ie you might find if you claim for a damaged awning you lose you no claims. my mate did this last year. nice new awning - premium up £450
Will they reasses me when i reach 50. they didnt me.
ditto the comment about 1 minor speeding ticket. most car policies allow one but my MC policy put the price up.
what will they do if you get hit by an uninsured driver. sometimes you lose your excess if they cant claim it back.
what do they charge for monthly installments what period are they over. Crafty churchill did one on me in my car. The first year they were £25 over 10 months. Renewal came in £24/month great in though - till i saw this was over 12 months so it had gone up £38!!!
where is their call centre.
Is gas bottle theft or gas explosion covered.
Is being struck by lightening covered ( stratford MC rally 1997 springs to mind)
What happens if you get swept away by flood water.
These are the type of questions i would ask as evn though one quote seems better than another you have to compare apples with apples. One will allow this the other wont but will allow that.
Hope this helps

pity Confused.com or other such site doesn't do motorhomes. Fill in the form with your defined requirements and send it to all the insuring companies and await the quotes.
This is an excellent idea, I must admit that I have not shopped around for insurance since accepting my second year renewal with Comfort. I am going to look at the points raised in this thread that are pertinent to me and check my cover.
Thanks for starting the thread Webagents

Many motorhomes are available in LHD only, including most that will have been imported by the owner or a previous owner. Some insurance companies point blank refuse to cover imported motorhomes, and others will penalize you. This includes a lot of the really big names, and it really pi$$es me off when these people continue to solicit me for business when I know they would reject me anyway if I tried to buy.
So it will be good to recognize if there are exclusions or special loadings for foreign vehicles.

Pandalf I must admit I have not found this at all. Comfort for one will insure LHD at no extra cost and don't seem worried about it, neither did Saga...

I need to renew my insurance and tax before we set off for france on 11th Sept.
The spreadsheet is a great idea. Is it available yet (even if not fully finalised ) and if so where can I find it?
Thanks

And for breakdown don't forget age of vehicle. Only RAC Arrival through the C&CC will not discriminate on age or length.
Unless you know otherwise

Don't forget age of DRIVER.
One insurance company wouldn't quote because we weren't old enough????? (Had to be Over 55) |
