have not seen this facility mentioned, so thought I would share my experience. Loaded on to a mobile phone, Mobile Google Maps is a real bonus, being a map person rather than a GPS navigator.
There is a warning that it is data intensive, but I don't find that it eats into my data alllowance very much. The only 'expensive' bit is if I wish to change from a map view to a satellite view, which costs 15 Euro cents; but you can then save that particular satellite view for further reference.
All you need to do is navigate to Google on your mobile, and download the Mobile Google software. The actual menu' is a simplified version of normal google maps, and if I can make it work believe me anybody can.
