Getting insurance quotes. Just been told I would get a green card - but only for the 'european' side of turkey.

Is there anyway to get fully comp on the border of non european turkey?

Also I was hoping to travel to the south of turkey to ferry to cyprus. I guess north cyprus wouldnt be considered european?

Hi,

Only third party cover is available at the borders.

There are a few insurance companies that will issue a green card to cover the whole of Turkey.

Comfort I know do as I'm insured with them. I believe Safeguard, Caravan Club and NFU do as well but you would have to check with them. There could be others of course.

Safe travelling

Unfortunately I'm not eligable for Comfort or the Caravan Club. Either age or length of stay etc. Am looking to go with safeguard but they said just the european side of turkey. Will have to double check I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions

Hi,

An afterthought.

When you enter Turkey the details of your vehicle are entered on the drivers passport as the vehicle is imported duty free.

If for any reason the vehicle is written off/unroadworthy and you are unable to export personally it you could be liable for the import duty. Normally your breakdown/recovery insurance pays any customs claims for duty if the vehicle is scrapped or transported home by road.

Make sure you have adequate breakdown/recovery insurance to cover this unlikely event.

Safe travelling.
