Philnev - you will have a great time. I have been skiing every winter for the last 6 or 7 years (my son lives in the French Alps so that was my incentive to learn!), but I must say we have not, as yet, plucked up the courage to do so in the MH. I would love to try it, but my other half enjoys the comforts of a warm, half board hotel right on the slopes too much.
We tend to stick to the Southern Alps as not too far to drive from Grenoble, where my son is. L'Alpe D'Huez is great for families and first timers. We are off to Les Deux Alpes in Feb half term.
We are staying at Les Melezes. Very friendly, good food and walk out the door you are at the nursery lift.

Hi all
We are planning a trip to Le Grand Bornand in Half term 9-16 Feb. Family of 4 16 yr old lad and 13 yr old girl. Complete rookies at skiing, unfit, probably overwieght but really looking forward to having a good time.
We have hired ski equipment here, but are having problems booking lessons, wont acceot card.
Anyone else going let us know and maybe meet up.
Hi, just getting to grips with forum message postings and reply. Would be interested to know route being taken to Le Grand Bornand next week. Last year we went via Geneva, as instructed by tom tom. Great route but don't know if the small , high roads will be clear. Does anyone out there know?
We'll be going straight down the Autoroutes (splits quite well into 3 x 3hr sections for rest breaks
A26 Calais - Reims (170 miles)
A26/A5 Reims - Dijon (180 miles)
A39 Dijon - Bourg En Bresse (140 miles)
A40 Bourg en Bresse - Annecy turn off junct 11 (if you want to call at Annecy), or carry on to Bonneville junct 16
We'll be getting a morning Tunnel crossing on Friday, heading down to Annecy and parking up Fri Evening somewhere around Annecy
Steady morning Saturday, with an hours scenic drive to the site
Total tolls last year were 80 Euros to the Annecy exit of the A40
A26 Calais - Reims (170 miles)
A26/A5 Reims - Dijon (180 miles)
A39 Dijon - Bourg En Bresse (140 miles)
A40 Bourg en Bresse - Annecy turn off junct 11
That's the way we went in Jan to avoid some of the smaller roads via Geneva as suggested in the Alan Rogers guide. Tom Tom wanted to take us the Geneva route but we just programmed Annecy in first. No problems at all.
