Hi there I am new to the Motorhome community. I come from a family of Lorry drivers and passed my Class 1 C1 Driving Licence when I was 21, I am now 23 and have recently completed my class 2 C+E. Recently my Grandfather has passed away and willed to me a Coachmen Cross Country Se Elite. Model 376ds. I am now in a predicament of being unable to find an insurer that will accept me as I am under 25. It is becoming more and more frustrating that I have the ability to drive arctics on Company Insurance via my employer, yet I have a RV Motorhome outside that I can't drive. Please could someone point me in the direction of an insurance company that can help me.

Best Regards

Kai Summers

Hi and welcome to motorhomefacts lovely van you have there and it's a pity you cannot insure it. Doesn't look like a coachbuilt but an RV. Not really sure but hopefully someone will be along soon to help. Perhaps alter your subject to RV and our experts will home in on it hit edit button on your post.
Must be really frustrating for you and I hope someone can help.

I had similar problems when my partner picked up a drink drive conviction and after it had expired and test had been re taken none of the usual supects would insure us

As we have a fleet of 7 vehicles it was galling

I eventually found the Peterborough based Motor Caravan Insurance Agency 0871 726 1245 who did us proud, yes at a price but then according to the insurance industry my partner is a greater risk

We pay about £1,000 per annum after 60% NCD due to actuarial loading, have an agreed value on the van and no silly frills

Its a lot but I couldn't carry on doing 20 - 30,000 miles a year on my own

Could your father or someone else insure it and add you as named driver?
