I've got an old copy of InfoMap Navigator and would like to know if anyone out there has managed to upload the French Aires onto the map.

It's an old version so maybe I'll have to get the latest programme ?

If InfoMap, old or new, can't upload the Aire locations is there any other laptop based software which I should consider instead of InfoMap?

Thanks,
M.

Up until version 4.5 you needed the plus edition to be able to add your own POIs. The current version is 7.2 and comes with a companion program called Map Explorer and this has the import function. Once you've imported them you can then start PC Navigator to see and search them in there.
We've helped a lot of people set up for importing and most people find it easier to work with the data in an Excel spreadsheet although you can use an ODBC data source if you prefer.
I wrote a few papers for earlier versions but they do still apply to 7.2 and you can download them from www.action-replay.co.uk/drivers/index.htm. Scroll down to Navigator 4.4/4.4 plus and you'll find them there.
I have to say I'm really impressed with Navigator 7.2. Coverage is even better, maps are available for North America and the Middle East and there's a welcome return of the motorway signs. Upgrades aren't too expensive either at £45 plus £3.50 p&p.
Hope that helps

Doug

Howdi Falken

Hope this is not hijacking the the thread.

I have been following your instructions on importing POIs to Navigator, I got as far as the going to 'Tools and then click on Import Wizard'. I have Navigator 6.4 but I can't find tools never mind Import Wizard, do you have any pointers for me.

Cheers

I can't remember if Navigator 6 came with Map Explorer or not but that's the only way to import POIs into Navigator. If not, I'm pretty certain I can send you a copy of Navigator 7.1 as it uses the same maps as Nav 6. I'll check in the morning. 7.2 is the newest but that has different maps and is a chargeable upgrade.

Regards

Doug

Hi

Not sure about the PC version of Navigator but when I had the older version of Pocket Navigator for my PDA I could only add speed cameras so with a bit of lateral thinking Cool I converted a France aires CSV list into an Excel spreadsheet and uploaded them ok - just the symbol was a camera Laughing
I now have upgraded to version 7.1 which is a lot better and comes with map explorer program which as Doug states lets you import any type of POI although its a bit buggy and crashes from time to time Crying or Very sad I've added stellplatz locations and NT places in the UK from Excel spreadsheets by opening the downloaded CSV files in Excel and sorting out the columns and headings to fit.

Steve
