Hi Wanderwagon
What i syour problem

We got our Renault back in 2001 when it had a 2.8ltr engine
Van servicing can be carried out by any Renault garage Car or Truck

Motorhome By your original dealer or one of your choice
We had some early problems which the dealer (Tyne Valley Motor homes couldnt or wouldnt fix)
However a call to Devon and we were invited down straight away and fitted in instead of going back across country

Peter & his staff coundnt have been more helpfull
We aranged to return later for a roof rack fitting
Againno problems we were offered transport to a nearby station or a bit further if we wanted, or son had also travelled along in his car, so we went into the Yorks Dales for the day

The van runs quite well but we do have to stop every 1000km or so to fill up the fuel tank (100ltr)

we have an excelent deisel heater which has only ever been at full power for a few minutes; just to lift the temp quickly.

Hope this is ok if not send PM to PamNPete

devon are very good. not perfect but very good.

in 1998 they converted a toyota van that i had imported. it is lhd and on one of several visits i made to the factory i was laughing at my van covered in lhd notes. peter said i wouldn't have been laughing if i had found the man just about to cut a hole in the bodywork on the wrong side.

had to get devon to change the wiring on the fridge. if you had it on 12v and stopped but left ignition on pos. 1 to listen to the radio the fridge stayed on. peter said that he wired all toyotas according to their instructions. i said the fridge isn't a toyota so wire it as an electrolux. he did.

i also got them to fit an eberspacher heater. they hadn't fitted one before and eberspacher came in and fitted it. they now offer it as standard on some models and an option on others. wish i was on commission.

would i use them again - yes definitely. van is now 6 years old and still looks good.

Thanks Smiffee and Pete.

More info from others still welcome.

No problems...just that we have a Devon Monte Carlo on order due end of month.( This will be Wanderwagon3) My Navigator iwas happy with it though I hadn't put it on my list. That it met our lay out criteria was the deciding factor.

Know nothing about Renault being a Ford or Landrover owner . However was encouraged to learn that the Renault Master 120 was voted "Van of the Year 2004" by the trade users and magazines.

Will give a report when we've got 4 or 5 thousand miles on!

Cheers for now Ken....with wanderwagon2

Hi wandeerwagon2/3
Our is the older Monte Carlo
Bit different from a Land Rover, Sometimes have wished I still had 4 wheel drive
Think you will have deisel heater & gas hot water + electric immersion.

Our previous Renault Traffic was 130,000 miles old when we closed our business

Cab Layout is same ,as are the cars. So when you take it for service the curtesy car is the same
Find the Renaults better than the Ford, You just dont have a low ratio box or 4 WD but a few more MPG

hi ken

have never owned a master van but have driven tens of thousands of miles in them. from '98 - 2000 i delivered new & demonstrator models from renault base in southampton docks.

the only thing i can't comment on is the fuel consumption. funny how you don't notice when someone else is paying.

found them to be comfortable, stable and fast.

brakes are excellent. travelling in a convoy of 3 vans going to glasgow i was tail end charlie. my job was to look for any vehicles coming up behind us that might be mr plod. we were doing 90 on the m74 or a74m can't remember what it is/was. i was preoccupied with a vehicle coming up fast in lane 3. when i looked ahead i found no 2 van was braking. i was so close that i had to stand on the brakes. it stopped with no deviation or vibration just a huge cloud of smoke.

the reason for the slowing down was a marked police car on the hard shoulder. smifee's smoke screen happened right alongside them. guess who got pulled over Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

wouldn't mind a drive of the new 3 litre master Rolling Eyes

Good Luck with your van. We really loved the Monte Carlo at York show and would have bought one but just slightly too long for the space we have.
The layout looks great. Which version did you get the one with the storage on drivers side at back so you can possibly leave bed as fixed bed.
Happy touring

Hi The brakes are good We were doing just on 60 (an area where speed cameras are known to operate) with a full load, when a dope pulled across the road & stopped dead because the ate he was turning into was closed.
Stopped in the vans length no skid

Same thing happened a few days later when I was empty Again no skid, just some loose items rattled forward in the back

Mechanic said they are fitted with a load sensor that adjusts the powewr to the rear brakes

have you looked at the Carmague Jana its a shorter wheel base version of the Master
