I shall be arriving in Haugesund off the DFDS ferry at 18:30 in May 2008. Can anyone suggest a suitable place to stop for the night in or around Haugesund.

I understand from the NAF Camping website that the Haraldshaugen Camping doesn't open until 1st June, although the Motorhome Facts Campsite Database says that it is open all year.

Any suggestions? Any suitable place considered!

Many thanks

Plenty of wild camping opportunities I stayed just a few miles north by the road to Eltravag

Many thanks Frank. I've identified Eltravag and now know where you are talking about. We will be very happy wild camping.

Peter

Thanks Trev

Initially we will be heading NE up the E134 and then route 13 towards Kinsarvik and Eidford. After that we will probably head inland towards Gol and Fagernes, then N to Otta and Dumbas, and ultimately to Alesund, but it all depends on how much we loiter on the way and what the weather is like! We tend to let the landscape determine where we go next!

kind regards

Peter

Hello Pete,

Just returned from Norway Tour. We stayed at Fagerenes, Beitostolen, Voss and Bergen. Was very cold as low as -21C, see elsewhere on the forum.

Recomend

Camping Fagernes, Fagernes has GPL at Shell.

Beitostolen, very nice campsite. Has Private Bathrooms, Solarium, Steam Room, Sauna and massage chair.

We stopped and Haugesund last winter, though not wildcamping. I cannot think of anywhere specific where you could rest as we stayed in a log cabin.

I have put some info for the sites on the campsite database if you need more info.

Happy Travels,
Trev.
